Is kefir safe for dogs?

Plain, unsweetened kefir is generally well tolerated by most dogs in moderation, and many owners use it to support digestion. We make Kefi specifically for dogs: plain, unsweetened, and always xylitol-free. Introduce it gradually, and check with your vet first if your dog has a health condition or a dairy allergy.

Why does 'plain and unsweetened' matter so much?

Some flavored or 'sugar-free' dairy products contain xylitol, a sweetener that is toxic to dogs. We never use it. Feeding plain, unsweetened kefir made for dogs is the safest way to share the benefits โ€” which is exactly what Kefi is.

My dog is lactose-sensitive โ€” can they have Kefi?

Fermentation lowers the lactose in kefir, so many sensitive dogs do well with it โ€” but it isn't fully lactose-free, so dogs with a true dairy allergy should avoid it. As always, start with a small amount and watch how your dog responds.

How much should I give my dog?

Kefi is dosed by size โ€” Small, Medium or Large by weight. Start with a little less than the full amount for the first few days so the gut can adjust, then build up. See the dosing guide on our How It Works page.

How do I store it?

Fresh kefir is a live food, so keep tubes and bottles refrigerated and Kefi Cubes frozen until serving. A little extra tang over time is the live cultures at work, not spoilage. Travelling? Kefi Daily powder is shelf-stable and needs no fridge.

How does shipping work?

Fresh and frozen Kefi ships cold to keep the cultures happy; Kefi Daily powder ships ambient. Exact shipping options and timing will be shown at checkout once we launch in your area.

Can I subscribe?

Yes โ€” subscribe & save 15% on any product and we'll deliver on a schedule that suits your dog. You can pause, skip or cancel anytime.

Will Kefi cure my dog's allergies or tummy troubles?

No โ€” and we'll always be honest about that. Kefi is a food that supports a healthy gut as part of a balanced diet; it is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If your dog has ongoing symptoms, please see your veterinarian.
